It has been said that change is inevitable. It naturally comes as we age, mature, or grow-up (choose the one you prefer). Sometimes change is good. It brings new opportunities, a fresh start, or a welcomed hope. However it is also very difficult. Change can be disruptive, painful, confusing, and even heartbreaking. We are currently in a moment of change. The world changed around us, swiftly, 10 plus days ago. But this type of change has been experienced by many in our church family at different times through various circumstances. Our lives can change quickly, without warning...permanently!
This morning our church family changed. We lost a great servant in Arnetta Davidson. She embodied the passion and desire of the command to take the gospel to the end of the earth! She was devoted, loyal, encouraging, faithful, compassionate, hard working, and humorous (the list could certainly go on). The sum of her and Jim's work can not be calculated in their lifetime nor ours. In fact it cannot be calculated until the Lord makes His glorious return! The reason for this is because their work extends beyond generations and borders. The sacrificial love they shared with so many continues to advance the Kingdom of God. For this we should give THANKS!
This change will be difficult for our family, and theirs. Pray for Jim, the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the entire family. Pray for our church family and encourage one another during this time.
Today as I write we are still separated from gathering, but united in spirit, through His Spirit. What makes the church so unique is our bond is not limited to physical interaction. We are One! Today we both rejoice, for God's promises, and grieve together over the loss of a friend and sister in Christ. We are not alone, and we are not without hope!
2 Corinthians 4:17-18
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
In Christ
