What day is it?

How often have you said this statement over the last couple of weeks? Time is a funny thing. For a child time slowly ticks by. Hours seem like days, days like weeks. As adults days quickly mash together to form years and decades. As our routines are changed it is very easy to lose track of time, days, and even months. I know the past couple weeks have thrown my routine off. Some days I have to stop and really think about what week day we are on. Anyone reading with me on this?? It is our tendency and the enemies hope, that during these times we become spiritually dull, unaware of the Lord's presence and His purpose. This leads to us missing out on the joy of the gift of life God has given.

Today is a gift! Our circumstances may not be ideal. They may even give us reason to doubt, worry, or fret. Psalm 118:24 is familiar to us. It states 'This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.' However verse 25 may not be as familiar.

Save us, we pray, O LORD! O LORD, we pray, give us success!

Maybe our gladness is connected to 'good' things that happen in our life. Maybe it comes from circumstances that are favorable, comfortable, exciting, or new. But none of these things last. We need to be so rooted in Christ that even in days that others deem miserable, we rejoice! We rejoice because of what Psalm 118:25 teaches us. He hears our prayers! He saves His people! He brings us success! We may be looking for an earthly success, and salvation. Remember they are temporary. What He gives to us is eternal. And eternal things bring deep joy and gladness!

So what day is it? For my family this is a special day. Not knowing the day or date came to a screeching halt last night. I know what today is. Of course it's Sunday...but it's also Rowen's first birthday! It's not the party Tabitha had planned or envisioned but that doesn't change the fact that it is a day worth celebrating! Maybe you don't have a landmark event for today. That doesn't change the fact that TODAY is a day worth celebrating!

In Christ
